Team 1731 continued their success in the 2008 FIRST robotics season with the robot, the Riveteer in the game Overdrive. Many of the mentors were returning alumni from previous seasons.

The team competed again at the NASA VCU Regional in Richmond, Virginia where they made it to the second round of the finals before being eliminated. They also won the Judges Award for their unique way of controlling the robot during hybrid mode (shown in the videos below). The team also competed at the Buckeye regional in Ohio and again made it to the second round of the finals before being eliminated.

Team 1731 was part of the alliance that scored 122 points (the regional high score) at the NASA VCU Regional. Below is the video of this amazing performance:
